What happened on 6th April 2023
This Thursday, it occurred that Labour have been 40 points ahead of the Conservatives in London.
Redditors, meanwhile, willing to speak out against Tory, "Conservatives deserve a complete wipe out in the next elections." But not all of them support Labour, "Not from me! Under FPTP labour is a wasted vote in my constituency, so I'm stuck tactically voting for lib dems to keep the tories out. "
"I'd actually happily vote labour, that's my preferred choice but due to FPTP and my constituency that's the equivalent of spoiling my ballot paper. So it's not like I don't want anyone, it's just I cannot in good conscience vote for who I want, as that runs the risk of returning a tory to Westminster. Which, as we've seen over the last 13 years, is a complete disaster."
"It's sad that voting has been dragged down to keeping a party out, rather than getting one in. Speaks volumes for the quality of candidacy really."
Also on Thursday, the British government compromised itself declaring that UK government ministers hold meetings with climate deniers "all the time."
This statement met indignant attitudes on the Web. Users have been rather aggressive towards single voices of supporting the climate denying theory that climate has been changing for centuries.
"That’s f*cking harsh on the folk on the South Pacific islands who’s country is now underwater, or sinking, due to man Made climate change. Of course the climate has always changed. But it has never changed so fast, and due to the actions of a single species."
"We live in a sickeningly mercenary environment. Money is the sign of success, of social status and of one's right to be listened to. Wealth in such an environment is a matter of "make wealth while the sun shines" and an unspoken "because as it will be nearly seven percent cooler and dimmer by 2050, which could result in a mini ice age."
"Some of the Tories see climate-change-deniers every day. When shaving."
"The problem is... the issue of climate change has been entirely politicised so no sensible debate can be had. 1000s of scientists say we're past the point of no return. 1000s of scientists say we're not and there are far more pressing things facing planet right now such as corporate ecocide and genetic engineering. Politicians and faux philanthropists fly around the world in their private jets telling us we all must use less carbon. In cities like London you now have LTZs everywhere. You can still drive through them of course but you have to pay. Point is, they're telling us you can use as much carbon as you like if you can afford it. And the billionaire class certainly can afford it, and they do and clearly don't care about it. All their rubbish about offsetting is fairy tale nonsense. The issue is and will be further used to tax and control poor people. So we shouldn't be surprised when people are cynical about especially when we're told we're past the point of no return by a bunch of billionaires, and scientist funded and sponsored by billionaires."
Another Thursday news was that Metropolitan Police operation to root out officers previously accused of sex crimes or domestic abuse could see nearly 200 face dismissal. Another 689 individuals, officers and civilian support staff, are also having old allegations against them re-examined to see if they pose a continuing risk.
An audience of the British reddit, yet, doesn't believe in the pursuit of justice. They consider that situation would not change because lack of financing and training are here to stay.
"After just having a scroll through the police UK subreddit it doesn't sound like there gonna have any one left with people leaving stripped budgets no resources and now this. Obviously we need to route out bent cops but they need to be replaced. What a worrying time to alive in the UK. Can't see a doctor can't get an ambulance can't talk to the cops can't afford to eat can't afford rent and mean while our Tory over lords continuing tightening the thumb sceres and pressing down harder with the boot."
"The job simply isn’t worth it. You risk your life every shift and then in return you get a shit sandwich. Training is also appalling and run by 3rd rate universities. Why bother?"
"It’s THE time to be committing crimes. Drug dealers can formulate huge networks easily because the police simply can’t manage large scale investigations anymore. Burglars simply get away with it. The situation is f*cking dire."
In response, the satire website the News Thump issued their point of view. According it,the Met warned that if we suspended every officer suspected of sexual offences we’ll never get anything done.
