On Friday, web users discussed that Liz Truss been paid £15,770 an hour for second jobs .  Meanwhile, MPs with second jobs have an average wage of £233 per hour, Sky News can reveal. The typical rate for MPs is 17 times the national average - and over 22 higher than the minimum hourly wage. The highest hourly rate for a current MP goes to Liz Truss, who got £15,770 per hour. Ms Truss's most lucrative work since leaving Number 10 has been a speech in Taiwan. She was paid at a rate of £20,000 per hour - nearly 1,500 times the UK average hourly wage - for her insights into global diplomacy. Even higher than Ms Truss is Boris Johnson, who resigned as an MP last month. His hourly rate comes in at £21,822, but having left parliament, he is free to work without having to publicly record his earnings. "I have to work for a whole year for roughly the same money as that useless turd gets in an hour..." "Really makes you curious, at what point would a pay like that be not c...

On Tuesday, the Daily Mail informed us that Charles believes small farmers are the 'backbone of Britain' . And he will not desert them now that he is King. There was a faintly wistful edge to the celebrations a few days ago as the King was welcomed back to what is, in one sense, his home town. After all, if it wasn’t for him, this place wouldn’t exist. Up until the 1990s, Poundbury, in Dorset, was a patch of farmland, owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. The then Prince of Wales set about turning it into his vision of a modern town built on traditional lines. Modernist architects and town planners scoffed that it was twee, outdated and doomed to failure.  Nearly 30 years later, it is thriving and expanding for the simple reason that people love living in a tidy, pretty town which looks like a Georgian film set, has more than 200 businesses, 2,500 jobs, 5,000 residents, a good school and neither a yellow line nor a traffic warden. Yet, the comments under that sugary article ...

On Friday, Rishi Sunak promised that foreign NHS staff will be cut from a quarter to just 10pc. Just one in 10 of all NHS recruits will be from overseas by 2038 - down from a quarter now, the Government’s new workforce plan has pledged. Unveiling the plan, the Prime Minister said it was the right thing to do to spend far more on the NHS workforce - but warned this could mean cuts elsewhere. Mr Sunak said: “Governments from all parties have ducked the challenges for decades. “It just isn’t right that we don’t train enough people here at home to properly staff our National Health Service. “Overcoming this won’t be quick or easy. It’s only possible because of the difficult decisions we are taking elsewhere to cut the debt. “And by prioritising the NHS there will be other things that we can’t afford. But the NHS is so important, so we’re making the tough calls and doing things differently.”   Yet, Brits weren't happy about this news. "Can't say this is good thing. In my G...

On Monday, the week started with plans of c losure most UK railway station ticket offices to start ‘in weeks’ . Almost 1,000 offices are believed to be targeted for closure under government proposals to cut costs and “modernise” the railway, although ministers have for months shied away from spelling out the extent of the plans, in the face of concern from their own MPs as well as unions and passenger groups. However, an announcement of public consultations, the first stage in the formal process, will come in early July, according to rail sources quoted by the Association of British Commuters, a campaign group. Unions and campaigners have warned that cutting ticket offices will make it harder for vulnerable passengers and people with disabilities to travel by rail. With only about one in eight tickets now bought at a ticket office, the industry argues the public would be better served by moving staff from offices to broader roles on station concourses. The Department for T...

On Sunday, a study has found that p eople in the UK are less likely to survive treatable conditions, such as breast cancer and stroke, than those in other rich nations . The review, by the King's Fund think tank, said the problem may be directly linked to the performance of the NHS.It said below-average spending on the UK health service led to fewer staff and equipment than systems elsewhere. But the study showed the NHS was very efficient within its budget, with less cash spent on admin than other nations. The government says the NHS is one of the most efficiently run healthcare systems, and that investment is happening to further improve services. Ahead of the 75th anniversary of the creation of the NHS next month, the think tank compared the UK's health service with the performance of 18 other health systems, including those in Europe as well as Japan, the US and Australia. Redditors found facts in the article quite arguable: "The article suggests that admin=in...

On Sunday, Lord Heseltine, the former deputy prime minister under John Major has called for Britain to “recreate our position at the centre of Europe” after the failure of Brexit. The Tory grandee accused political leaders of hiding from the damage being caused by the UK leaving the EU and said the time has come “for the British people to be told the truth”.  Writing for The Independent , Lord Heseltine laid bare the failings of Brexit, from a shortage of skilled workers holding back economic growth to trade deals with Australia and New Zealand which will be “so damaging for farmers”.  This statement was met with disbelieve by users. the majority liked an idea, though. "Do they honestly think Britain will just be able to get back it’s former standing like “my bad guys, did a silly, just going to sit back in my special place seat and we will act as if the last few years didn’t happen, deal?” Nah IF we are allowed to join once again it’ll be *bottom rung of the ladder an...
