On Sunday, Lord Heseltine, the former deputy prime minister under John Major has called for Britain to “recreate our position at the centre of Europe” after the failure of Brexit.

The Tory grandee accused political leaders of hiding from the damage being caused by the UK leaving the EU and said the time has come “for the British people to be told the truth”.

Writing for The Independent, Lord Heseltine laid bare the failings of Brexit, from a shortage of skilled workers holding back economic growth to trade deals with Australia and New Zealand which will be “so damaging for farmers”.

This statement was met with disbelieve by users. the majority liked an idea, though.

"Do they honestly think Britain will just be able to get back it’s former standing like “my bad guys, did a silly, just going to sit back in my special place seat and we will act as if the last few years didn’t happen, deal?”

Nah IF we are allowed to join once again it’ll be *bottom rung of the ladder and likely have to concede at lot of what we managed to ignore before all because idiots and racists fell for a sign on a bus and consummate liars who haven’t been honest once in their life while decrying all the “doomers” for worrying too much. It’ll be a shit show and half the voting public and our “leaders” should be held accountable for their stupidity.

*edit to one part of my comment that wasn’t worded as well as it should be and several people have rightly corrected it. “Bottom rung of the ladder” is incorrect, the best and hopefully likely situation is we will join equally as other countries have and would. We are still a big country despite our faults but should stand equally as a proper member of a union. Just hopefully we wouldn’t be made an example of which I believe is a natural thing to worry about however unlikely."

"This is also just conjecture. You have no idea what kind of deal would be made between the UK and the EU. A large part of the EU countries would be glad to accept you guys back. The politicians on both sides will work out some sort of compromise they can sell to their respective people. You probably won't have all your old benefits back, but a deal with regard to eg keeping the pound for an indefinite period will certainly be possible."

Also on Sunday, Rishi Sunak mocked trans women in leaked video footage by the Pink News.

In the leaked recording, Sunak can be heard saying: “It shows his spectacular misjudgement and why he’s completely unfit to lead our country.”

It is unclear who Sunak is referring to, but likely to be the Labour leader Keir Starmer, who has also come under fire for appearing to support proposals for schools to ‘out’ trans pupils to their parents.

“Over the same period of time, you might have noticed Ed Davey has been very busy,” Sunak continues.

“Like me, you can probably see that he was trying to convince everybody that women clearly had penises.

“You’ll all know that I’m a big fan of everybody studying maths to 18, but it turns out that we need to focus on biology.”

Here, Sunak references his plan to get all students to study maths up to age 18. It is unclear how the government intends to provide the extra staff needed to make this proposal a reality. The person who shared the video with PinkNews said: “The veneer of freedom of speech publicly is one thing but to make jokes in private, it’s another thing altogether.

“You wouldn’t make jokes about other marginalised people the way he did about trans people.”

They added: “There was laughter, there were quite a few younger attendees who looked visibly uncomfortable.”

This video raised a wave of critics of our prime minister.

"Rishi Sunak is a man who’s been handed everything in life & he chooses to use his platform to mock those who already go through unimaginable discrimination just for political gain. He says he’s a man of integrity, he’s not."

"Not even the Tory party membership believed in Sunak to run the country."

"That will probably make him more popular among Tory voters." - "And anyone who's angry about this wouldn't have voted Tory anyway."

"This would have been career ending in 2017, now we have the pm and the equalities minister both on tape slinging insults about trans people in polite company without a care in the world."

This day as well, Prince William pledged to 'end homelessness' and announces plans to build social housing on own private estate the Duchy of Cornwall.

Prince William has revealed his lifelong ambition to end homelessness in the UK and said he will build social housing on his private estate, the Duchy of Cornwall, which he inherited from his father the King.

William, 40, spoke in his first interview since becoming the Prince of Wales, and used it to explain that he is determined to 'make a difference... that doesn't set people up that are homeless for another fall'.

The 130,000-acre Duchy of Cornwall spans from Cornwall to Kent and includes estates in Newquay and Dorchester which comprise of a mix of private and some affordable housing.

"I'd rather see affordable homes for hard working people to buy who have been priced out of the market. Why are we paying to look after people who do nothing and leaving the people who are trying to pay their way fall to the back of the queue."

"Make sure they are given to homeless people and not illegal immigrants"

"Stop importing people would be a good start."

Others praised William's good intention.

"I'm not a Royalist myself, would prefer a republic, but if these are the kinds of thoughts William is having regarding the country, then he may one day be a pretty good king."

"William has always had a good head on him. You can definitely see Diana’s influence."

"He wants to help and make a difference, a very noble act for a future king. But the problem clearly lied with out politicians who are clearly all out for themselves"

Yet, the general issue of the last weekend was a Partygate scandal video

The Tories face the threat of new Partygate police probe as previously unseen footage shows staff boozing, dancing and mocking lockdown laws at the height of Covid. A bombshell video exposes for the first time how officials joked about their lockdown rule-bending Christmas bash at the Conservative Campaign Headquarters in London.

At least 24 revellers were there and, shockingly, they include two named on ex-PM Boris Johnson’s controversial resignation honours list.

In the exclusive footage, two dancers even twirl past a sign saying “Please keep your distance”. It will infuriate families who lost relatives in Covid and will reignite criticism of Mr Johnson just days after he was slammed for misleading MPs over parties at No10.

The British Web exploded after watching and reading this news. The most liked comments were:

"For those who attempt to defend these criminals.

Remember we were in lockdown. Reading stories about hard working NHS staff members. We had horror stories about people dying alone. People who couldn’t say goodbye.

Meanwhile tory HQ had a full wine fridge and had lockdown parties.

Get the out of power NOW!!!!!"

"Investigated and cleared twice.

Meanwhile the nasty party had 16 parties that we know about. To top it off the committee that investigated was threatened by the PM."

"I lost my wife of 20 years to AML leukaemia whilst this was going on. From a blood test to 5 short weeks in hospital before passing away on her own. Myself and our two children had short limited time with her in a covid controlled ward. Single visitors at a time. Her parents could not see her at all due to not being allowed on an extended visitors list. If I met any of these people in person I’d be looking at a lengthy jail sentence. Seeing them enjoy themselves whilst I now struggle as a single parent with grief and a lost salary make me so angry."

"This just shows what lying, twisted, insulting Tories they are.

I lost 2 people during lockdown & was unable to go to either funeral because if restrictions & was mostly housebound because of my health.

My husband was on furlough for 8 monthsc& we struggled for money & yet these rich, lying p arasites were laughing at us & breaking the rules they insisted we all live by.

The whole lot of them should be sacked & fined thousands as innocent people were fined for going on a daily exercise while these p arasites get off Scott free !!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡"

"My neighbours across the way both died from Covid in 2020. Nobody was allowed to go into their place to help them except family and their family couldn’t go because their daughter got Covid. We knew they were in trouble and we were helpless.

A care home close by lost more than 20 residents and some staff. The place was off limits to any health care workers from the NHS under the rules that were in operation as the pandemic exploded in the spring of 2020.

I didn’t at first want to look at this. But, I have. I am up thinking here in the early morning just before 1 a.m. so angry, disgusted and sad.

What is it lying Bojo said? Oh, yes - RUBBISH!!!

This is not about politics. It is about human decency. Our neighbours worked their entire lives. They raised a family. They were loved by friends and family. They were kind and generous. They kept their small home meticulously. The little garden out front always had many beautiful flowers. At Christmas, they lit the evergreen tree in the garden with beautiful white twinkle lights and hung candy canes on it so local kids could reach and delightfully pluck one off the tree as they walked by.

We shared meals together and and there were great stories John told about his years as an officer on many different ships that journeyed around the world.

How callous the way this double standard unfolded. When Johnson fell ill with Covid, he received around the clock care. He recovered.

My neighbours and the people from the care home are dead."

"Fiddling while Rome burns. The absolute state of our political class and the utter contempt they hold for us. Makes me furious; like loads of others; missed milestones, funerals etc… while this shower had fucking parties.

I hope they are all held accountable for this."
