What happened on 11th April 2023
Tuesday was a day full of events in the UK.
One of the biggest strikes by medics started, this Tuesday. While junior doctors were marching past Downing Street, EveryDoctor Wall of Support for them was launched. Hundreds of Britons wrote messages of respect and support for people who save our lives.
Jeremy Vine on 5 debate show received rather clear answer on the question, "Are junior doctors' pay demands unreasonable? Junior doctors in England are striking for four days while asking for a 35% pay restoration. The Health Sec says the demands are "unreasonable" and that walkouts "risk patient safety". Do you agree? Or are you backing the doctors?"
The majority of their followers in Twitter spoke out in favour of the junior doctors. They also doubt in competence of the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Hon. Steve Barclay. There is an opinion that four days is too long to medics' strike :
"No. I am backing the Doctors. Steve Barclay is not fit for office."
"Spell out the maths for the innumerate propagandists on the show and on the phone. 100 - 25 = 75 (25% pay cut actually 26%)
75 x 0.35 = 26.2
75 + 26.2 = 101.2 It is not even a pay rise!"
"We Brits are notoriously bad at bartering, that’s why people think 35% is unreasonable. Refusing to negotiate because the opening offer is too high, is a signal that Barclay can’t or won’t solve the problems with recruitment and retention in the NHS."
"The Tories have underpaid these doctors for too long, yet 35% is too much to ask for. We need more doctors and nurses but on better pay..they deserve it. Tories hailed them heroes during pandemic yet not worth pay rise. 4 days is too long to strike at once, how many lives will be lost? yet the Tories need to shoulder some most of the blame"
"And ALL MPs including LABOUR have been just lapped up yet ANOTHER £2.5j payrise without a fight "
Meanwhile, Rishi Sunak greeted the US president Joe Biden who arrived to Belfast to mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday agreement.
No one else was happy, for some reason. The UK Premier was suggested to "tell Joe how you are trashing the UK. But he probably knows already..." and this post was flooded with various kinds of memes:

On Tuesday, King Charles' Coronation plans were jeopardized because of confusion over Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's plans, the route and the seating plan.
Some of the Mirror readers revealed themselves as rampant anti-monarchists:
"A complete waste of tax payers money. Cancel the coronation and charlie and his witch should abdicate before more money is wasted. "
"If the service is too long,or too complicated the tv audience will turn off because it is a stupid ceremony and it's about time we had a Brexit style referendum to abolish the outdated privileged Monarchy and started taxing their wealth."
"cancel this ludicrous waste of money! "
"Exactly a total waste of tax payers money we don't need a monarch "
Others harshly criticized Harry and Megan:
"Not coming. Mark as ‘didn’t bother to reply’ and move on. Mind you they’ll probably do another Oprah interview and whinge about how it’s everyone else’s fault"
"If H & M haven’t replied by now…who cares. Give them folding chairs in the back row."
Meanwhile we've known that over 150 pubs have shut this year as energy bills soar.
And that most upset Britons, so that there were calls to go in the streets. "We need to get a bit of that French protest spirit in us, we really are a pushover in this country. All types of small business are going to go bust while energy companies record record profits."
...and arguments against, "Let's not forget the serious attempts at banning marches & protests along side banning strikes. What else can we do since everything is now sodding illegal?"
"Take to the streets outside Westminster and start letting THEM know how you feel about the situation... Need to start being more proactive about the current state our country is in, due to abysmally corrupt politicians and their parasitic corporate vampires..."
