What happened on 27th March 2023
On Monday we were 'unimpressed' by Humza Yousaf's win in the SNP leadership election. He was only 4 per cent ahead Kate Forbes.
In spite of his victory, a new SNP leader is considered to success merely because he campaigned as the “continuity candidate” to succeed Nicola Sturgeon. So he called by media and readers 'Useless Yousaf.' Another top politician with lack of credibility. And the Independent expressed an opinion that "Scottish independence now feels as far away as it has ever been." Readers were more than merely sarcastic:
"Yousaf and Forbes have more in common than you would imagine. Neither of them has ever had a job. Born to rule you might say."
"No politician of foreign descent should be allowed to hold high office(other than local councillor) in the U.K. a country where 87% of the population is white & Christian, especially one that peddles anti-white sentiment on You Tube.We now have a racist Muslim to the North, a self-serving Hindu to the South and Khant the Mayor. Less we forget a reformed IRA girl to the West.No wonder we feel strangers in our own land! "
"The dream is dead and in the process of being buried by the hopeless snp."
Very sad.
The next news was that Industry body Offshore Energies UK had predicted production fall by 80% by 2030, increasing reliance on imports. The Energy Profits Levy - which the industry opposes - saw headline tax rates increase last year from 40% to 75%.
Also crossing swords continues around the legislation aiming to stop people claiming asylum in the UK if they arrive through unauthorised means, including by crossing the English Channel in small boats.

Labour is attacking the Tory plans—as a “con” that won’t stop refugee crossings, while some Tory want to toughen up the Illegal Migration Bill, and anti-racists go into streets protesting against it. "The Tories have created so much fear around refugees. And now they want to keep people in camps. They bang on about how much money things cost, but the money spent on hotels goes into the pockets of Clearsprings and Serco. It’ll be the exact same with these camps making money."
