On Sunday, Britons learned that democracy is at threat as UK government is doing little to help those unable to vote . It turned out that as many as 9.4 million people across Great Britain, 17% of eligible adults and equivalent to nearly one-in-every-five of us, are missing from the electoral register or not listed at our current address so we may not be able to vote, with the complete inaction of the government. Mirror readers are not happy with this news. The most popular comments are about a great election fraud which would establish Tory dictatorship in the UK: " We have been downgraded to an obstructive democracy just above repressive." " It's called voter suppression Kev, and it's aimed directly and squarely at those people who do not normally vote Conservative. The Tories have lifted the cunning plan straight from the American Republicans - in the same way as they adopted their woke/culture wars, statue and flag worship. Look on well at the US, a ...

Week 12, 2023

This week I decided to start my modest practice in social journalism and try to improve my English. According to my academic and part-time working schedule, it appeared to be more comfort to begin such reviews with previous Sunday. Just like in old English numeration of the days of the week. The last Sunday, 19th March , was the 20th anniversary of the Iraqi war started. So, I selected some videos on this theme here . On Monday, 20th March, a brewing scandal around the Met, a £11,000 per year loss of British workers caused by stagnation, and energy bills changes were the most acute issues. Look here for details. The independent report into the Metropolitan police by Baroness Louise Casey exploded the British public on Tuesday, 21st March. All other news, including Rishi Sunak's Windzor Framework in the EU Council and Suella Braveman's 'illegal migration bill,' were put on the back burner. You can read about it here . The Wednesday, 22nd March , upset us with rise of ...

The saddest news of Saturday, 25th March, could be a list of the strike action set to take place in April 2023 . It, nevertheless, rather inspiring. For such social activity shows Britons' resilient spirit. Junior doctors, DVSA driving examiners, members of the Public and Commercial Services union, Security guards at Heathrow Airport, passport office staff, British Museum and Library workers are to stand up for their rights in April We also have known that London City Hall staff will no longer have TikTok on their devices in the latest ban imposed on the Chinese-owned social media app over security concerns . The only question is Why it wasn't banned up till now?  Another this Saturday issue was asylum seekers. On the one hand, Ukrainian ambassador has urged more people in the UK to host refugees fleeing Russia’s invasion, on the one-year anniversary of the Homes for Ukraine scheme. On the other one, asylum seekers say they are bored, the food is bad and it is 'like livi...

On Friday, the Metro and other tabloids sought to inspire panic with assertion that Covid-19 infections in England have risen to their highest level since the start of the year with around one in 40 now being infected. At the same time, some media issued horrifying news that dozens of families damaged by a rare reaction to the AstraZeneca Covid 19 jab have have launched legal action against the pharmaceutical company . Together with the Thursday's article about kids from vulnerable backgrounds who never returned to school after lockdown and became 'Ghost children ,' this selection of stories demonstrates that the Covid-19 still has great impact on the UK community.  There is no unambiguous attitude towards either it's risks, or jabs' necessity and safety. Yet, the most popular opinion on Reddit is: ""over 3 billion doses of the vaccine have been supplied to more than 180 countries"and only "445 reports of major blood clots (thrombosis) with ...

On Thursday, the UK public continued discussing a figure of former Prime Minister Johnson. This time, it concerned the inquiry into whether he deliberately misled parliament over partygate . This theme gained media attention from domestic and international media. Yet, many of them considered that it could be an end of Johnson's political career.   This day all of us also were able to estimate tax returns of Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer ... And to admire the fact that our Prime Ministermade £1.9m last year alone. The majority, however, had come to conclusion that "it shows nothing of value, because tax returns generally don’t, and were never going to. This whole tax return bollocks is shite anyway, it’s a yank problem imported across here to apply meaningless pressure to British politicians. People who thought this would help anything have no idea what a tax return actually is." Almost everyone had quickly realized that the UK current Prime Minister is out of touch w...

This Wednesday was marked by several unwelcome news. Thus we've been informed that UK inflation rate in surprise rise to 10.4% as salad crisis pushes up prices That was rather appalling. As usual, brave Britons faced this data with a good laugh.   "This means companies increase our pay to match inflation, right? Right? Unless you've got debt (which devalues with inflation), inflation is the worst." "Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...oh you're serious, let me laugh even harder AH HA HA HA HA HA! Best we can do is 0.1% over 3 years while profits go up by 50% year on year. And to compensate for those industry leading wage increases, we're going to have to sack a quarter of you and replace you with automation." Another piece of the Wednesday news runs that  MPs overwhelmingly vote for Rishi Sunak’s Brexit deal despite revolt led by Boris Johnson .  Readers of the Independent appear uninterested in impact of the Brexit deal on their lives. They willingly disc...

The general questions this Tuesday was 'Who will protect us against our protectors ?'  It was revealed that an independent report into the Metropolitan Police has concluded that Britain's largest force is "broken" and should be abolished if it cannot change.   This report made by Baroness Louise Casey was a headline UK news of Tuesday in the global media. It pushed away all other issues like: The European Union council has given Rishi Sunak’s Windsor Framework the green light after an agreement was made on 27th February. US Congress members sound alarm over treatment of UK Christians    Even Suella Braverman with her ‘ illegal migration bill’ and visit to Rwanda which only people in a coma did not call 'immeasurably cruel' or merely 'inhuman.' Meanwhile the mass media savoured details like: ' Met Police officer 'repeatedly raped' by colleague and staff urinated on : Key findings of Baroness Casey's damning review into force...
