Week 12, 2023

This week I decided to start my modest practice in social journalism and try to improve my English.

According to my academic and part-time working schedule, it appeared to be more comfort to begin such reviews with previous Sunday. Just like in old English numeration of the days of the week.

The last Sunday, 19th March, was the 20th anniversary of the Iraqi war started. So, I selected some videos on this theme here.

On Monday, 20th March, a brewing scandal around the Met, a £11,000 per year loss of British workers caused by stagnation, and energy bills changes were the most acute issues. Look here for details.

The independent report into the Metropolitan police by Baroness Louise Casey exploded the British public on Tuesday, 21st March. All other news, including Rishi Sunak's Windzor Framework in the EU Council and Suella Braveman's 'illegal migration bill,' were put on the back burner. You can read about it here.

The Wednesday, 22nd March, upset us with rise of UK inflation rate and predicted instability because of controversy over Sunak's new Brexit deal. Here.

On Thursday, 23rd March, tabloids continued discussing Boris Johnson's further political prospects after his Partygate answers. Rishi Sunak's and Keir Starmer's tax returns and an April 4-day strike of junior doctors were much talked about, as well. Here.

The Friday, 24th March, was a day of Covid-19 news in the UK. Although, there were topics about unemployed Muslims and some unpopular facts about British Prime Minister. Here.

The Saturday, 25th March, was marked by the one-year anniversary of the Homes for Ukraine scheme and an appeal of the Kyiv ambassador to 'people in the UK to host refugees fleeing Russia’s invasion.' We've known, as well, a list of strike actions scheduled for April and TikTok ban for officials' phones came into force in London. Here.

This is all for the UK news of the 12th week of the year. Was it good or bad? Write your opinion in the comments, please.
