Week 17 2023

Those were rather harsh weeks. The previous one I suddenly came down with COVID-19 and couldn't write anything. This week was full of whipping up hysteria concerning future local election and King Charles' Coronation.

All in all...

On Sunday, residents of Scotland and north England witnessed rare Aurora Borealis and all Britons tested new emergency alert system on mobile phones.

On Monday, the Euronews calculated that more than 4000 people have died while homeless in the last four years in the UK, Britain's international development minister stated that the evacuation of British citizens apparently had failed, MPs debated the consequences of Brexit for the first time since Britain left the European Union, and Labour warned that the UK will be hit with the fastest and harshest price rises in the G7.

On Tuesday, the Bank England economist told everyone that British households and businesses “need to accept” they are poorer, government strengthened plans to tackle sewage after Labour pressure, and admired the street decorations ahead of King Charles' Coronation.

On Wednesday, we learned about revelation that the UK government has been helping to fund a homophobic religious organisation in Uganda, the Tories sent out an election leaflet wrongly telling voters they do not need photo ID in Norwich, new anti-strike laws in the UK have been blasted as "draconian" across Europe, and almost a quarter of people aren’t aware of changes to voting law.

On Thursday, there was the news that NHS doctors were denied seats on British evacuation planes left stranded in Sudan raised a discussion, some Labour lady MPs made shaky statements about racism and slavery, and the worst ever food inflation in the UK.

On Friday, it occurred that British support for the monarchy is at an all time low, number of voters turned away under government’s new ID laws will not be fully counted, and the Mirror great info that a woman 'really spooked' as she spots 'Princess Diana's face' on slice of Tesco ham.

On Saturday, the media reported that Rishi Sunak under pressure to stop choosing Tories for BBC jobs after Sharp row, in Sudan NHS doctors were allowed on last evacuation flights following U-turn, the what happened to the people who protested against King Charles, and that UK readers may lose access to Wikipedia amid online safety bill requirements.

That was the 17th week of the year. Was there more good or bad news?
